This is Jillian Benedict, the new manager of the English Club just posting to say hello and give you some information that you may find very interesting. I know that everyone is probably a little fried from the recent semester, but if you’re not, Dr. Thompson is leading a number of students and faculty into the land of Writealot this summer, an expedition welcome to anyone and everyone who wants to write along. The basic ‘guidelines’ of this challenge are simple and personal, leaving it up to you to set the pace and the limit. All you have to do is choose a starting date and write a certain number of words per day. You don’t have to write a novel if you don’t want, push yourself to write as much as 2,000 words or as little as 250 words per day, it doesn’t matter. Just write every day (or at least try for 30 days). Everyone involved will then get together once in July and once in August to discuss our different drafts and experiences. An e-mail will be sent out in late June with the details for the July meeting. You don’t have to be a writer to participate. This challenge is meant to be fun. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave a post or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you choose not to participate, you will not be punished…much. So, I encourage you to try your hand at writing if you wish but if not, I hope you enjoy your summer all the same and hopefully do something fun and read something good. I’ll be posting soon so keep an eye out!
